DataCloud and Graph Massivizer projects working towards increasing service success on the computing continuum

Modern Bigdata pipelines raise critical challenges for Cloud data centers to meet their resource demands with low latency. Consequently, the computing continuum emerged as a new distributed platform that extends the Cloud with nearby Fog and Edge resources, significantly reducing the communication latency and network traffic. Compared to the high-performance Cloud, the widely-distributed Fog and Edge infrastructures greatly vary in resource processing, storage, and network bandwidth with different quality of service (QoS) and availability. An incorrect resource selection in such a complex and hardly predictable environment leads to Bigdata pipeline interruptions, performance degradation, and profit reduction. The demand for service level agreements (SLA) becomes increasingly important to prevent QoS violations and gives performance indicators for future resource selection.
